Volunteering Makes a Difference!
"Don't ever question the value of volunteers. Noah's Ark was built by volunteers; the Titanic was built by professionals." ~ Dave Gynn
At Denver Christian School we realize that parent engagement is necessary to increase children's success in school and build our DC family. We expect every family that is involved in a DC child's like to volunteer with 20 hours in the "Doing Community Side-By-Side" program.
Please let me know if this is how you want me to do changes for you.
Our goal is to create a culture of community and support for our students and their education through serving together. We would love for you to utilize this program as a way to engage in the DC community, serving "Side-by-Side," being the hands and feet of Jesus for our students, staff and DC School community.
Before volunteering at Denver Christian...
Help us keep our students safe!!! All Volunteers that work with our students should complete and return the DCS Background Authorization Form to Brant Epperhart before volunteering at Denver Christian. This form should be printed, filled out, and returned to Brant Epperhart along with your check for $16 (DC will cover the other half of the background check fee). Once authorized, this is good for 3 years.
Note: You may assume that your background check has cleared (you have been approved for volunteering at DCS) one week after you've submitted the form to DC unless you have been notified otherwise.
We have a couple of different ways for you to volunteer!
1. Event Based:
There is a DCS Volunteer Calendar (on Track it Forward) which lists volunteer opportunities for specific events in a calendar view. Please click the DCS Volunteer Calendar image to see many opportunities that are generally for specific events requested by teachers, Parent Association, etc. Give it a try!
2. Open Schedule:
Below is a list of the current volunteer opportunities on an open schedule Contact information is listed separately for each volunteer need.
Lobby Receptionist Volunteers Needed
We are looking for a few more volunteers to meet and greet those coming into our lobby by the front doors. This person represents DC with a friendly greeting and directs visitors and guests to their destination, as well as adding another layer of security to our school. We are looking for volunteers to do half or full day shifts, or to substitute for those volunteers who can’t come in on a given day. Training is provided. Contact Lauralee Veenstra, Director of Community Life, at email@example.com if you are interested or have questions.
At Home Projects

Log Your Volunteer Hours
As you know, we ask all volunteers to please log your volunteer service hours. This helps Denver Christian in compiling important data of our volunteer service community. This data can help us with our recruitment efforts and some grant writing. Simply click the Track it Forward image below and follow the instructions to set up your own personal/private account.
Volunteer Acknowledgements of Appreciation
Once you have reached the above hours logged, you will receive a coupon for redemption in the DC store. Coupons will be handed out monthly at the general PA meetings. If you are unable to attend the meetings, we will contact you personally. If you have questions, please contact our DC Volunteer Coordinator.
